Salzburg

Salzburg is a compact city with many of its attractions conveniently located near the centre of the old town. The old town has the most charm with its narrow streets, cobbled squares and historic architecture. Situated close to the Bavarian Alps and the ski resorts of the Salzburgerland, Austria's fourth largest city has lots to offer the visitor whatever time of the year.

Salzburg is probably most famous for being the birthplace of Mozart, of which there are many attractions and also as the setting for the film "The Sound of Music" and many of the locations are available for you to see.

With over 800 small shops in the old town and restaurants and coffee shops to suit all budgets, this is the ideal place for a holiday.

Salzburg was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997.

Yvonne Salisbury has visited and worked in Salzburg and Bavaria many times for more than 15 years and writes her guides and websites from personal knowledge. Her guide to Salzburg is consistently in the top 5 bestsellers on Amazon Kindle for Kindle books on Austria.
